Benefits of Agency Employment

Nov 21, 2018 | Careers Advice

As a candidate, why use an agency or consultancy?

Like any industry, the quality of companies and the people within it can be variable to say the least!

The recruitment industry (us) is not immune to this but, at its core we are a service driven industry with effectively two different sets of customers. Our candidates who we help find employment and our clients who we support to ensure they have the people to deliver on their requirements.  Both are equally as important as each other which is what makes our industry so unique.

Done well, we can provide genuine value to our candidates through advice, coaching, support and consultancy.

So why engage with an agency or consultant on your job search, especially in the current market?

  • The contract or temp market in particular, has a large proportion of roles that are never advertised as clients use agencies to manage their workforce through their database. So you will never hear about them.
  • Consultation on current market conditions. A true consultant should be able to provide you with advice and guidance on salary and rates to ensure you are positioned in line with current market conditions and ensure you are not excluded due to high or low salary expectations.
  • For contract or temp we do the chasing for you! We will chase and follow up on your applications for you whether there are 2 or 20.  You only need to chase 1 person and if done correctly, you won’t need to chase them at all.
  • Providing information such as references, contact details, salary information, medical history etc. is protected and only needs to be provided once. Did you know you should be advised of any contact to your references? So why do you need to have it on your CV for 20 companies to have access to?
  • We become an advocate for you, actively chasing down opportunities with active clients that may not be released to market as yet.
  • Advice on your CV to ensure you stand the best chance possible for being considered for the role. There are a lot of good candidates/job seekers out there, what is going to set you apart? Well, hopefully this is where we can help.
  • When it comes to contract/temp, work for one company for years on various assignments. You can be employed by XYZ for 2 years but have had access to numerous businesses and opportunities to build your experience.

With a rise in the demand for an agile and flexible workforce, it is a great time to align yourself with a consultant who can help uncover the many opportunities that you may not have known existed.

Any company can place an ad, where we believe we add value is by understanding our client’s needs and our candidate’s skillsets and then creating deep connections between the two. And this is where the magic happens, matching these two together and providing our clients with a long term hire and our candidates with a long term career.  That is where the true fulfillment comes from for a consultant.
